Control Day

Glass bottles are the item of the day. I can take them to my health food store and fill them with bulk goods. It is really the plastic in our life that is difficult to deal with. I can recycle paper by making more paper and re-use glass containers, but re-using plastic is tough.

Idea: I am going to have to look into radical knitters who use plastic as a thread.

1) The first part of the project, the trash, didn't really affect me that much. Mom was spending all her time washing and wrapping, but for me there wasn’t much of a difference. I was still throwing things away, just in different places. For example, rather than throwing things in a trash can, we threw them into a trash box. Rather than throwing things into the sink disposal system we threw them onto a compost plate.

2) Now we are into reducing, it is having a much greater impact on my life. I can tell so even after only one day of living it. I think it will seriously change our living style. I really like the survival kits too. I especially like the graphite pencil and the HAND and OTHER hankies.

3) It’s hard to believe that after being so disdainful when we began, I am now very attracted to this project. I actually love it! I think it will continue to grow even more on me as we continue. We’ll see!

How about re-cycling at least part of the plastic bottles as cloches for starts in the garden?
